I was beginning to think that a bag like this didn’t exist.  I didn’t understand how that could be so, but I was convinced none the less.

How hard can it be? A bag that fits a 15″ laptop in it’s own (padded)  compartment, has pockets for phone, Oyster card etc and separate pockets for papers, bits and pieces and (dare I say it) overnight kit. AND… that doesn’t look like a laptop bag.

And then I found this

Zara Bag

Zara’s Office City Bag. Granted, it looks a liiiiitle like a laptop bag, but I’m going to overlook that as everything else about it is perfect. And best of all? It’s only £50 from Zara.

Yes, that does mean it’s not leather, but it’s damn good looking despite that, and has a separate pocket (on top of the other 5!) that’s padded and sized just right for a kindle/iPad mini in order to compensate for the lack of animal skin.

Win win if you ask me. Now I just need an iPad mini…

It’s easy to forget, while we sit shivering in cold UK weather watching warm snuggly clothes stomp down the runway in New York, that there is going to be spring & summer in between now and then. Or at least so they tell us. So, with one eye on the fashion horizon, the other is wandering in the direction of spring florals (I know, “Flowers…..for spring, how original.”) but at least this time round they’re on our feet…

COquette covets floral heels

Top Row: Everly Liberty Print Pumps – J.Crew // Emma Cook Black Floral Printed Court Shoes // Middle: Floral Jacquard Pumps – Stella McCartney // Tamsin Floral Print Pump Loeffler Randall  // Petra Multicoloured Print Pumps – LOFT // Bottom: Etta Glitter-Heel in Hummingbird Print – J.Crew // Printed Block Heel Court Shoes – Next // Limited Collection Platform Court Shoes – M&S

It’s those M&S shoes that started me off, they’re only £19.50, and super comfortable, and yet I managed to leave the shop without them ( I don’t know if that derserves a medal or a slap on the wrist!). But lets put all our cards on the table here shall we? Those Etta pumps with the glitter heel are the ones I’m really head over flowery-heels for.

I’ve always been the kind of girl who totes around a handbag the size of a skip. The bigger the better was how I rolled, and boy did my arms and back not like me for it. So, I decided to embrace the ever-shrinking trend for small bags. My gateway bag was a small across-body bag from J.Crew, but I’ve since gone even smaller, and bought into the simple pouch/clutch trend with this clutch from ASOS.

The Pink Pony Pouch had it’s very first outing last weekend, and people went gaga for it. It’s very stroke-able, and the bold gold-coloured zip along the top makes it look far more expensive than it really is (the zip looks funny and sticky-outy in the pic above, but it’s not like that really, thank god!). It’s only hairy on one side, the other is just plain leather, but that’s to be expected at this price.

You can fit plenty in it, and keeping your Oyster card in the side pocket makes tube turnstiles a breeze as there’s no need to take it out (perfect for clumsy glove-hands).

And now that the family has grown to include black, turquoise and animal print, I think I might have to indulge further…

notes on style // Coops – squeeze on earrings…

Coops are the brainchild of one of my favourite jewellery designers, Emma Franklin (now Mrs Emma Sharp!). I’ve known Emma for years, and she’s always worn these delicate ‘squeeze on’ earrings, which I’ve secretly coveted since seeing them in her degree show at St Martins. Now that she’s sharing the Coop love, I’m saving up for a rose gold pair and will probably live in them from day one (much like my other pieces of hers which are rarely off).

a week of wishes // for the style maven…

Christmas is not the time for splashing out on one season wonders. Save the neon graffiti hi-top wedges for another day, and splash the cash on investment pieces that will be relevant for seasons to come…

1. Office City Bag // Zara – Chic black with gold hardware in a classic shape.
2. Lion Pendant Necklace With Crystal Back Detail // Bill Skinner @ ASOS – Love the tough-luxe combo of this gold lion, backed with a grey Swarovski pendant. A classic everyday piece.
3. Snap Button Epaulettes Cape // Mango – Military is a trend that will always be relevant, and a cape is a great spin that can be worked into a multitude of other trends, from ladylike chic to sixties cute.
4. Folky Blouse with Embroidery Detail // By Malene Birger – Monochrome chic with a touch of boho, this piece is as perfect for the boardroom as it is for Sunday lunch at the pub.
5. Polly Push Lock Leather Gloves // Mulberry – Tan leather. As classic as it gets.
6. Leather Bow Belt // Valentino – The oxblood leather may be “the colour of the season”, but in reality, the burgundy leather and simple bow detail are timeless and a great combo of tough leather and lady-like chic.
7. Striped Cotton Dress // Sonia by Sonia Rykiel – Red and Navy stripes require no explanation.
8. Riff Gold Buckle Trim Leather Biker Boot // Dune – I was turned onto these beauties by Anneli, and I have to agree with her, they’re the perfect everyday boot.
9. Heart elbow-patch cashmere sweater // Chinti and Parker – Good cashmere gets even better with age, and the button details and heart elbow-patches on this Chinti and Parker jumper will make it a favourite for years to come.

What self-respecting beauty bunny wouldn’t want these goodies filling up her stocking on Christmas morning…

1. & 2.  Russian Amber Imperial Shampoo & Conditioning Creme // Philip B – There’s no way on earth I could justify spending this much on shampoo and conditioner, but if Santa wants to, who am I to argue?!
3. Holiday Style Palette // Aerin – I’m not usually one for make up palettes, you always end up using one or two colours and junking the rest. But this classically chic colour combo and the divine packaging seem to set this one apart.
4. Hemlock & Obsess Nail Polish Duo // Illamasqua – Drawing on their rich heritage in film and theatre, Illamasqua are known for creating high performance make-up with a distinctly dark side, and this shocking pink and snow white are no exception.
5. Private Blend Lip Colour in Black Orchid // Tom Ford – As indulgent and as perfect as it’s possible to get, Tom Ford’s lipstick collection contains every colour a woman is ever likely to need. And I need this one!
6. Lip Brush // Tom Ford – To make that lipstick even more perfect!
7. Earl Grey & Cucumber Cologne // Jo Malone – The scent of afternoon tea, perfected and balanced with beeswax, musk and vanilla and bottled for your delectation. Sublime!
8. Eye Colour & Lip Balm Set // Paul & Joe – Paul & Joe’s seasonal limited edition collections are always charmingly eccentric and make use of their colourful and whimsical prints. These Christmas tins contain the perfect colours for creating a fresh ‘just-in-from-the-cold’ look.

9. Botanical Body Repair Oil // Elemental Herbology – Featuring a nourishing formula of argan, rosa mosqueta and sweet almond oil with delicate scents of frangipani, jasmine and mandarin green tea, this silky oil helps to hydrate and soften the skin, leaving it with a sweet scent and radiant appearance.
10. Sequin Print Washbag // Ted Baker – Mainly because it’s pretty. I think I’d actually use it for cables and tech bits when travelling. But don’t tell Santa that.
